What Happens During a Free Home Organisation Consultation?

Wondering what happens during a free home organisation consultation? We’ll chat about what’s not working, explore your space, take photos and measurements, then create a customised design plan and estimate tailored to your home, lifestyle and needs — with absolutely no obligation to book.

What Happens During a Free Home Organisation Consultation?

Thinking about getting some help organising your home, but not quite sure where to start?

That’s exactly what our free consultation is for.

We know inviting someone into your home to talk about clutter and organisation can feel a little daunting. You might be wondering whether you need to tidy first (you don’t!), whether your home is “too messy” (it isn’t!), or whether you need to know exactly what you want help with before we arrive (definitely not).

Our free consultation is simply a relaxed chat about your home, what isn’t working for you, and how we might be able to help.

First things first — there’s no need to tidy

Please don’t clean or organise before we arrive!

Seeing your home as it normally functions helps us understand where the problem areas are and why certain spaces aren’t working for you.

Maybe the pantry gets out of control within days of tidying it. Perhaps the kitchen benches have become the drop zone for everything coming into the house. Or maybe you have cupboards and rooms full of things you know you need to sort through, but the thought of starting feels overwhelming.

We’re not there to judge. We’re there to find practical ways to make your home work better for you.

We’ll have a look at the spaces you’d like help with

During the consultation, you can show us the areas that are causing you the most frustration.

That might be one specific space, such as your pantry, kitchen, wardrobe, garage, playroom, linen cupboard, home office or storage areas.

Or it might be several areas throughout your home.

You don’t need to have a perfectly formed plan. Sometimes you simply know that your home feels cluttered or difficult to keep on top of, and you need someone to help you figure out where to begin.

That’s something we can work through together.

We’ll talk about what’s not working

Good organisation isn’t just about making a space look beautiful.

It needs to make everyday life easier.

During your consultation, we’ll ask questions about how you currently use the space, what frustrates you, who uses it, what you struggle to keep organised and what you’d ideally like to change.

For example, if we’re looking at your pantry, we might talk about whether the kids need easy access to snacks, what you buy regularly and which areas always seem to become messy.

These little details help us create systems that actually suit your household rather than simply making everything look tidy for a photo.

We’ll talk about what you want to achieve

Everyone’s version of an organised home is different.

You might want to declutter and reduce what you own, make things easier to find, create better storage systems, prepare your home for sale, organise after moving house, make a busy family home easier to manage, or simply create a calmer and less cluttered space.

You can also tell us what you don’t want. If you love your mismatched containers and don’t want everything decanted into matching jars, that’s completely fine!

Our job is to create a solution that works for you, your home and your budget.

We’ll take photos and measurements

Once we have a good understanding of what you’d like to achieve, we’ll take photos and measurements of the spaces we’re looking at.

This allows us to go away and properly plan your space rather than making rushed decisions during the consultation.

Measurements are particularly important when we're recommending organising products such as baskets, containers, drawer organisers or storage solutions. We want to make sure anything we recommend is suitable for your space and makes the best possible use of the storage you already have.

We’ll create a customised design plan

After your consultation, we take everything we’ve discussed — along with the photos and measurements — and put together a customised design plan for your space.

Your plan is created specifically for your home, your household and the way you use the space.

We’ll consider things like layout, zones, accessibility, storage, products where required and practical systems that will make the space easier to maintain long after we've finished organising it.

Because no two homes or households are the same, we don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach.

You’ll receive an estimate

Along with your customised plan, we’ll provide an estimate for completing the project, so you have a clear idea of the investment involved before deciding whether you’d like to go ahead.

Depending on the size of the project, this might be one organising session or a larger project completed over several sessions.

There’s no obligation to book after your consultation. You can review our recommendations and estimate and decide what feels right for you.

How long does the consultation take?

Our free consultations are approximately 30 minutes and can be completed in person for Christchurch clients or virtually if you're located elsewhere in New Zealand.

It gives us enough time to understand your space, hear what you're struggling with, take the measurements and photos we need, and gather the information required to create your plan.

Ready to see what’s possible?

Sometimes the hardest part of getting organised is simply knowing where to begin.

Our free consultation takes the guesswork out of the process. We’ll look at your space, talk about what isn’t working, take photos and measurements, and then create a customised design plan and estimate to show you how we can transform it.

Whether it’s one troublesome cupboard, a chaotic pantry or an entire home that needs a reset, we can help you work out the next step.

Book your free 30-minute consultation and let’s create a home that feels calmer, functions better and is easier to keep organised.
